Youth Development Programs

As we serve our region and community, Medicine Horse’s staff have created a realm of programs to meet the needs of youth and the educators who work with them. These programs can be single events, but more often they are designed to build on previous programs over time- some are a 6-week regular occurrence, some are designed to fit within 3-4 event openings within the school year, and others are designed to fulfill social-emotional learning needs for groups of students working through a variety of school and recovery tracks.

One example is the AWARE Program:
Developed by the Medicine Horse Center and aligned to the standards of the American School Counselor Association, A.W.A.R.E is a 6-week social-emotional experiential learning program for small groups. We believe awareness is the first step towards creating positive change in our lives: Actions, Words, Accountability, Respect and Empathy.Through creative and engaging activities with the staff and horses, A.W.A.R.E. has emerged as an effective program that continues to show improvement via student self-evaluations and teacher observations in the areas of confidence, communication, respect for others, empathy, problem solving and the ability to self-regulate.

We also curate student events around your timeframe and needs. Please email us to inquire about progressive programming suited to you and your class or group, or check out Resources for Educators to learn more.
