Meet the Land
The Medicine Horse environment is an integral part of the therapeutic experience. Set within an open, natural ranch setting, the space offers room to breathe, move, and reconnect with a sense of grounding often lost in daily life. Wide skies, fresh air, and the steady rhythms of nature help regulate the nervous system and invite presence, creating conditions where healing can begin.
Free from the constraints of traditional clinical settings, the ranch allows clients to engage their bodies, senses, and emotions in an organic way. The land itself provides calm, perspective, and a feeling of safety—supporting clients as they slow down, listen inwardly, and engage more fully in the therapeutic process.
Medicine Horse Center is located in the beautiful Mancos Valley, where the land around us carries the stories of millennia of Indigenous inhabitation at the intersection of mountains and desert. Mancos is situated in close relationship to regional farming and ranching communities. Along with the nearby cities of Durango and Cortez, we also serve regional sovereign tribal communities, including the Ute Mountain Ute, Diné (Navajo) and Hopi tribes.
